Agnes Yarlee’s Family Testify in Abraham Roberts First Degree Murder Trial

DES MOINES, Iowa  —  On Thursday in the First Degree Murder trial of Abraham Roberts the jury heard graphic testimony of how Agnes Yarlee died.

Roberts is accused of shooting and killing Yarlee, his girlfriend and the mother of his child, in their Johnston apartment last April.

A crime scene investigator walked the jury through the apartment today while playing video recorded as she arrived on scene.  The video showed Yarlee’s body slumped over on the couch with a baby rocker in front of her where an infant was sitting at the time of the shooting.  Roberts is claiming he killed Yarlee in self-defense.

The Polk County Medical Examiner testified that Yarlee was killed by a gunshot wound to the head but was shot two other times as well.  The jury also heard from Yarlee’s family members today who say they thought coming to Iowa would take them away from the violence of

Detectives testify in Nolen case about what they saw following Vaughan Foods beheading

More testimony in the first-degree murder case against Alton Nolen continued Tuesday, including the testimony of two Moore Police detectives who documented the crime scene.

According to Moore Police Det. Jeff Griffin, who also serves as a crime scene investigator for Moore PD, testified the head of Colleen Hufford, the woman Nolen, 33, is accused of beheading Sept. 25, 2014, was found a couple of feet from her body. He also said Hufford didn’t go out without a fight.

“There were significant cuts to Hufford’s hands that were consistent with defensive-type wounds,” Griffin said.

Griffin said blood from the eight inch kitchen knife that is believed to be the weapon involved in the attack at Vaughan Foods had blood that matched the DNA profiles of Hufford and survivor Traci Johnson.

Though the scene outside of Vaughan Foods wasn’t as gruesome as it was inside, Moore police officer Nathan Wells said it wasn’t any less

Crime scene investigator, use of force expert to testify as Day 3 of Tensing retrial begins

CINCINNATI — The retrial of former University of Cincinnati police officer Ray Tensing is scheduled to continue Monday with another group of encore appearances.

Cincinnati Police Department crime scene investigator Officer Jimmy Pham, forensic video analyst Grant Fredericks and use of force expert Officer Scott Haug all testified in Tensing’s first trial for the death of Sam DuBose, a black motorist whom Tensing shot during a traffic stop.

Tensing claimed that he was dragged by DuBose, who was attempting to drive away from the encounter, and had fired because he feared for his own life. The prosecution charged him with murder and voluntary manslaughter.

Margate man’s ex-girlfriend, daughter testify…

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – Jurors in the murder trial of a South Florida man accused of killing his girlfriend heard testimony from his ex-girlfriend, his daughter and a crime scene investigator Wednesday, but a judge has yet to decide whether a penis will be on display to the jury.

Richard Patterson, 65, of Margate, is charged with second-degree murder in the choking death of his girlfriend, Francisca Marquinez, 60, in 2015.

Patterson’s attorney claims that his client accidentally choked Marquinez during oral sex. To prove it, attorney Ken Padowitz wants a Broward County judge to allow Patterson to show his penis to the jury.

In court Wednesday, Margate police crime scene technician Jennifer Briere described the condition of Marquinez’s body when she examined it.

“She was already starting to decompose,” Briere testified for the prosecution.

Briere also described a bathroom next to the bedroom in disarray.

Jurors also heard a wiretapped conversation between Patterson and an ex-girlfriend in the days after Marquinez

Sister and CSI testify about toddler’s death

Updated Jan. 14, 2016:

VERSAILLES – “The state calls Cheyenne Chadwell,” Ripley County Prosecutor Ric Hertel announced Jan. 13 in Ripley Circuit Court. She is the 12-year-old sister of Bradyn Chadwell, 3, Batesville, who died Aug. 14, 2015. His father’s girlfriend, Jennifer Schooler, Batesville, is on trial for murder.

Before the girl wearing a sparkly headband came into the courtroom, defense attorney John Watson, Sunman, and Schooler traded places so she was farther from the witness stand. Meanwhile, the girl’s Court-Appointed Special Advocate moved closer to the stand to give the young witness support.

Through questioning, the prosecutor learned Cheyenne has lived with a second set of foster parents for one year and has a foster sister.

Hertel asked, “Do you remember when you lived in Batesville with your dad … and Jennifer Schooler?” She did.

“Did you and Bradyn fight like brothers and sisters or did you get along?”

“We got along.” She added, “He
