Suspect charged with murder in stabbing death – KCCI.com

Des Moines police have made an arrest in the stabbing death of a Des Moines man.

Michael Lee Bell, Jr., 39, of Des Moines, is charged with first-degree murder. He is currently in the Polk County Jail.

The victim in the stabbing has been identified as Jerry Lavelle Martin, 42, of Des Moines.

Bell had been detained as a suspect after the stabbing, but charged early Thursday morning.

PREVIOUSLY

A man who was stabbed late Wednesday afternoon has died, police said.

Des Moines police Sgt. Paul Parizek said in a news release that the attack happened just before 6 p.m. in the 1100 block of Euclid Avenue.

When officers and medical personnel arrived at the scene, they found a 42-year-old Des Moines man in the front yard suffering from a stab wound to the upper body. He was taken to a nearby hospital in critical condition.

Police investigate fatal stabbing in Mt. Morris Township

MT. MORRIS TWP, MI — Police are investigating after a man was fatally stabbed Thursday morning along Clio Road in Mt. Morris Township.

Officers and detectives scoured over a scene at Clio Road and Florine Avenue, just south of Stanley Road, where a four-door, black Pontiac sat along the east side of the road. 

The victim was found lying outside of the vehicle along a treeline off Clio Road.

A Mt. Morris Township Police Department Crime Scene Investigation van was also at the scene where the northbound lanes of Clio Road have been closed for the investigation.

Fairfax: Stabbing suspect flees following fight near rap talent show



A Sunday night brawl in downtown Fairfax left a 26-year-old Santa Rosa man in the hospital with multiple stab wounds in the back and head and his 30-year-old brother in jail.

The melee occurred at 10:47 p.m. in the Parkade, between Broadway and Sir Francis Drake Boulevard, across from the 19 Broadway Bar and Night Club, which was hosting a rap event titled “Marin’s Got Talent.”

At least 10 people were involved in the fight, said Fairfax police Chief Chris Morin.

Man arrested on murder charge after fatal stabbing in Franklin

Kettering police Chief Chip Protsman is asking residents to wait for answers about Sunday night’s police-involved fatal shooting.

Police officer Jonathon McCoy shot and killed Jason M. Hoops, 33, of Fairborn after a traffic stop of his gray Ford van Sunday evening near Craig Drive and East Bataan Drive.

Protsman didn’t respond to questions about why Hoops’ vehicle was stopped, what happened in the three minutes from the stop to the gunfire, why McCoy said Hoops’ gun was in a pocket after the shooting or how many shots were fired.

An 18-year-old wanted in connection to an assault during a Charlottesville, Virginia, white supremacist event earlier this month is now behind bars in Cincinnati.

Daniel Patrick Borden, formerly a student at Mason High School, was arrested Friday and booked into the Hamilton County Justice Center, where he is being held for the Charlottesville Police Department.
