Police: Shooting incidents might be linked

Police are investigating whether two shooting incidents that happened just minutes apart on Monday afternoon are connected.

Around the same time, LPD officers were also dispatched to the first block of 18th Street in reference to a suicidal person, Miller said. When they arrived at the scene, Miller said officers heard what they believed to be a gunshot behind the residence. Miller also said that as officers rounded the residence, they observed an unidentified male take his own life.

Video: Ald. Maldonado Argues With Police At Shooting Scene, Asks To Be Driven Around Closure

Footage from a cop’s bodycam shows an angry Ald. Roberto Maldonado (26th) arguing with officers and asking to be driven by police after he comes upon a road closure where investigators were working the scene of a shooting. Twice in the video, an officer asks the alderman if he’s seeking “a special favor.”

The video, obtained by CBS Chicago, shows the alderman confronting police at the shooting scene in the 3000 block of West Wabansia Avenue on Saturday, June 17.
