Mother of missing gang-involved son speaks out

The Inter-Faith Community Association’s focus is right there in the name: community.

Phyllis Hardison, a member of the association, gave a history of the organization that started in 1980 and has since focused on increasing activities for young people, encouraging qualified African American candidates during elections, helping children with education through tutoring and college preparation, and supporting other local groups, like volunteer fire departments.

“There’s a lot being done by very, very few people,” said association President Jim Roddy.

On Saturday, they brought awareness to an issue facing communities across the nation: gang activity, and how it affects families.

UPDATE: Suspect killed in officer-involved shooting with Redding Police

UPDATE: 3:15 p.m. 

On Friday December 8th around 2 a.m. Redding Police officers were dispatched for a report of a domestic violence incident on Wilson Avenue in Redding.

A female victim reported that her live in boyfriend Vernchoy Saechao, 22 years old of Redding slapped her.

The officers met the victim in the parking lot of the fourplex apartment.

She reported that Saechao had been drinking alcohol throughout the evening and was stabbing the walls of the apartment with a knife.

While the domestic violence incident was taking place there was family members inside including three young children ages 3, 5, and 8 years old.

Two officers made entry into the residence as one officer remained outside the area of the front door. As the two officers were inside Apt #3 attempting to locate Saechao, they heard noises behind them coming from the

Officer-involved shooting shuts down Auburn Boulevard

Auburn Boulevard was closed Sunday morning after an officer shot and injured a fleeing suspect, law enforcement officials said.

At 2:45 a.m., an officer approached a man and woman standing in the parking lot of the Ranch Motel on Auburn Boulevard, said Citrus Heights Police Department spokesman Lt. Dave Gutierrez in a release.

The officer searched the man, 24-year-old Nickolas Russo. Russo pulled away from the officer and ran away on foot. The officer chased him and fired his weapon an unknown number of times, according to the release. More officers arrived at the scene and found Russo had been shot in the upper torso. He was also in possession of a gun.

Russo was transported to the hospital and is stable condition.

The officer was not injured and has been placed

UPDATE:

State Police have released the name of a woman who was died in an officer-involved shooting at a home along Triangle Place on Tuesday.

Pamela Webber of Lynchburg was shot after police said she came toward officers with a knife.

The shooting is still being investigated, and the officer involved has been placed on paid administrative leave, per department policy.

Once the State Police investigation is concluded, the findings will be turned over to the Commonwealth’s Attorney for review.

The caller also said there was another individual inside the residence in extreme danger.

Armed woman dies in officer-involved shooting, police say

A 29-year-old woman was killed after an overnight officer-involved shooting in which she fled from officers and fired a handgun, according to Des Moines police.

Des Moines police Sgt. Paul Parizek said in a news release that Tiffany Potter, of Des Moines, was shot by an officer around 2 a.m. Wednesday in the driveway of a home in the 1600 block of East 14th Street.

Authorities said the residents at the home have no connection to Potter, who was taken to a nearby hospital, where she later died of her injuries shortly thereafter.

Parizek said Potter was driving a vehicle and was attempting to evade officers because of possible drug-related offenses, but he said officials will never know for sure. When she parked the car in the driveway, she fled on foot. She was armed with a handgun and fired at least one round, though it is unclear
