ST. AUGUSTINE — Kevin Dredden testified on Thursday that the last time he talked to his lover, Yessenia Suarez, she sounded stressed and her speech was slurred.
Dredden, who had an affair with Suarez, testified he last heard from Suarez when the phone call ended at 1:03 a.m. on Oct. 23, 2013. The mother and her two children, Michael Otto and Thalia Otto have not been seen or heard from since.
Dredden testified he got a text from Suarez’s phone about six hours later at 7:02 a.m.
But by then the mother and her two children were dead, according to investigators. Her husband, Luis Toledo, is accused of killing them.
Toledo, 35, is charged with second-degree murder in the killing the 28-year-old Suarez, and two counts of first-degree murder in the deaths of her children, Thalia, 9, and Michael, 8. If convicted of killing
