Crime Stoppers board gets CyanoSafe Sirchie fuming chamber for fingerprinting

The Parker County Crime Stoppers Board awarded the Parker County Sheriff’s Office a CyanoSafe Sirchie fuming chamber for processing latent fingerprints on evidence items relating to crime cases.

Parker County Sheriff Larry Fowler said the previous make-shift fuming chamber was outdated and posed a potential hazard.

“With the gift of the new fuming chamber, the Crime Stopper Board has allowed us to process latent fingerprints with the most advanced technology, cut the processing time by half while providing a safe environment for our staff who were exposed to toxic fumes created in the process of using the previous system,” Sheriff Fowler said. 

Sheriff’s Crime Scene Technician Heather Huffman said the old system was a common set-up used by many law enforcement agencies with an electric heating element placed inside of a glass aquarium, surrounded by an exterior housing made of Plexiglas.
